SHATTERED REVIEWS

Short version: This is cool.
Longer version: This is way cool.

"Seriously, though, Chance has come up with a very well made and thought out piece of magic. It looks freaking  good, both in quality of the props and the effect. Some paddle tricks are silly in premise; some are silly in method ("Choose a number from 1 through 6. Great, 6? Okay, that's s-i-x...you chose the third stone!"); and many just don't look believable. This isn't very silly in premise, the method is clean cut, and it looks realistic (the shattering isn't even really a "move", per se, and it looks like you're really breaking the thing each time you break it, and the restores look amazing). And it looks so cool!"

"When I received my demo of the effect, I thought wow this is going to be one heck of a paddle routine. The second thing I thought was wow, how long did it take Shelly to make the little custom cases for the tricks...Kudos to Shelly... ...And Kudos to Chance for top quality as usual. It's from Chance, so you know it is made well beyond expectations.
The effect is outstanding and by far the most unusual presentation of a paddle effect I have ever seen. What's cool about the effect is that so much happens, and the routine Chance supplies on superstitions can be worked right into anyone's style of presentation.
This effect would also be great for dealing with corporate clients such as glass/mirror companies, beauty and cosmetics, producers of cleaning products, and the list goes on. This can be incorporated into so many routines that this effect can actually work for you and make you money. This is a stand alone effect and I highly recommend it.
Oh and it's just plain cool!"

"Hot Rod Tricks! You either like 'em or you hate 'em. If you like them, you will love SHATTERED. If you hate them, I'd urge you to give SHATTERED a look anyway-- you may change your mind!
SHATTERED overcomes most of the objections some people have to Hot Rod effects:

1) There is a plausible reason for carrying the prop. (OK, barely plausible, but it beats heck out of the little black or transparent sticks that scream, "Beware: I could only be a magician's prop."

2) There are NO jewels. The inevitable change (it is, after all, a Hot Rod-type effect) is surprising. You do not see it coming as (I think you do) with jeweled Hot Rods.

3) There is NO flimsy forcing of a number. ("Oh, you chose 1? Let's see, let me spell that: O-N-E..." As Ortiz points out in "Strong Magic", if the choice of 1 gets you the third stone, then the spectator can only imagine that if he wanted the sixth position, he'd have to have chosen E-L-E-V-E-N!)

4) There is an entire routine provided. You don't just show a rod and essentially say, "See, it changes!" (OK, I know, we all do better than that, but it's pretty close...) SHATTERED not only changes appearance, it changes shape and leaves you clean.

The size of the rod is perfect for vanishes. I cannot tell you how frustrated I get with Hot Rods that are so long I cannot do the standard "cigarette vanish" without my hand looking like an over-extended claw. SHATTERED's rods also fit within my closed fist without peeking out. Switches are, therefore, a lot easier. I don't have large hands, but if you do, the size of SHATTERED will work for you, too. This is a case where bigger is not necessarily better.
SHATTERED is good, solid, visual magic that does not require knuckle-busting sleights. The people I have shown it to have been blown away.
This is the first Hot Rod-type effect that has brought me a spontaneous round of applause!"

"I am a fan of paddle tricks, and yes, this is something new under the sun! Visual and magical...it'll give you seven years of good luck."

"As I told Chance during testing: this is the only paddle/hot rod trick I would ever consider performing.
The quality is exceptional (god, I LOVE those little velvet bags). And the idea of messing with superstition in the form of a broken mirror is mind-opening -- at last, a good paddle trick for the bizarrist!
All in all, "Shattered" is well designed, sophisticated magic. (When was the last time you heard a paddle trick described in those terms?) Recommended."

"I have been doing this effect for a few months now and all I can say is DAMMIT!! Now that Chance is releasing this everyone will be doing it. Believe everything that you have read on this post so far. This is a great effect that plays well.
I predict that I Chance takes these to Kramien's Get Together next week that he will sell them all.
Congratulations Chance on another fine magical creation."

"I have been using my "Shattered" a little over a month to great reactions across the board. I use it sometimes in the middle of a card trick where I stop before someone makes a selection and remove the little mirror and place it on the table right below the fan of cards and say "ok, now choose one but pull it out slowly" as I am directing the hand above the mirror. It gets a great little "hey, magic boy, I see what you're doing, nice try." From there, it's out and it's almost an afterthought that I then fry them with! To sum up...
I have been performing my hot rod for years professionally and thought I had one of the best routines out there... my reality has been "Shattered"!"

"THANKS GUYS and we hope that everybody gets a chance to get "Shattered"!
