Wolf's Magic Vintage Recreation

The FIRST release from our "Vintage Recreations Series

The Jack Hughes Snake Basket

Jack Hughes Original Version

Vintage Recreations present:

The FIRST effect in our new "Vintage Recreations" LIMITED EDITION Series

I am happy to say that the first effect we released is one of my personal favorites, The Jack Hughes Snake Basket. I have obtained limited manufacturing rights from Derek Lever to produce a very small run of this incredible effect.
I had purchased an Original version of this effect which included every feature Jack offered. I was most amazed that after almost 40 YEARS...EVERY gimmick WORKED!
Our "Vintage Recreation" featured the Snake being updated by adding a feature that gives a far smoother rise. The entire gimmicked platform and components are comprised of Solid Oak and Polished Brass. They were beautiful pieces when completed.
Each Snake Basket included a Signed & Numbered C.O.A. along with a custom engraved I.D. Plate as well as a step by step photo diary of the making of this effect. Read the Testimonials below to see what every customer had to say!

Routine:

Basket is shown and audience is introduced to "GUS the Amazing Psychic Snake". Gus is a bit shy and hesitates to show himself and the lid rises just a bit and slowly goes back down. Gus is provoked to show himself and finally he rises up with the Basket lid on his head. Basket lid is removed.

Gus greets audience by bobbing up and down a few times. Gus is asked if he would like to perform for the folks. Gus quickly drops back down showing his contempt for the idea. Magician is annoyed and reaches in his pocket for some Snakey Snacks. Holding them over the basket, "not even for a Snakey Snack?". Gus pops back up for the snacks. Nibbles a bit and drops back down. "hmmmm...That's not fair Gus!! Gus has been known to be a bit of a Snake in the grass". Gus pops up with a Patch of Grass on his head. (This is silly but gets the laughs )

"Ok Gus, let's show the audience just how clever you are by demonstrating your world famous Slippery Psychic ability." Gus is Blindfolded. ( mini blindfold which is very cute ) Three Ping Pong Balls are shown, Red, White & Blue.  Gus is told to go back down while the choice is being made and told NOT TO PEEK. Audience member is chosen to select a ball ( Red is forced )  Gus begins to slowly rise up and peek out of the basket while magician is not looking. Magician quickly looks at basket and Gus drops down before magi catches him. This is done a couple of times during selection process. Finally, the Red ball is chosen, all 3 balls are thrown into basket. "OK Gus, show them your stuff!" a few moments pass and.. POP! the BLUE BALL SHOOTS UP AND OUT FROM THE BASKET! "hmmm...must not be the Blue ball". a few moments pass and...POP! the WHITE BALL SHOOTS UP AND OUT FROM THE BASKET! Slowly Gus rises with the RED BALL BALANCING ON HIS HEAD!

"If that wasn't enough, Gus is going to do a CARD TRICK for you!". Basket is set down and cards are introduced. A card is chosen ( forced) and lost in the deck. Deck is thrown into basket and Gus pops back up. "Sorry Gus, I guess it's getting a bit crowded in there." Gus drops back down. A brief pause and POOSH!... CARDS GO FLYING OUT OF THE BASKET! Gus rises up with a card in his mouth. "The Jack of Spades?!! Gus! You have chosen the WRONG CARD! You know what to do Gus and don't disappoint us or somebody will be getting a new pair of Snakeskin Boots!". Gus quickly bounces up and down in fear then slowly lowers back down. Gus rises back up with a card in his mouth, with the backside showing. Card is removed from his mouth, turned over and shown to be the selected card! Gus lowers back down then comes up to take his bows.
